4.0 out of 5 stars Inexpensive, does the job

Not a lot of high expectations for $15 but it does fit the Raspberry Pi well, the fan works and isn't loud. A little fiddly to assemble but does the job. Would buy again.

Very easy to assemble. Peeling the plastic protective sheeting off is the most difficult part of the whole build. Looks really nice when done. Super solid and quiet

5.0 out of 5 stars Bought this case to run my 3d printer using Octopi. Perfect case for it.

Since people say that the Raspberry Pi 4b tends to run hot, and I really wanted to leave this on all the time, I was going to need a case that had a fan. I bought the RPi fan since i already had the case, but I liked that this contained the heatsinks and fan together.

I've put these cases together before, and they can be fiddly if you're not used to it. Just follow the instructions and you'll be fine.

From my perspective, there's no reason not to put the fan on high speed. When you install the fan, you install the - on -, but then you have to put the + on either the lower voltage or higher voltage pin. Since this is in a bedroom, I worried about noise. I needn't have worried. This thing is quiet. Can only hear when I am really listening for it up close. So just install it to the higher voltage pin so you don't have to take the case apart again like I did. (I had to install the camera ribbon cable, so it worked out ok.)

Really glad I got this case,.

5.0 out of 5 stars Good raspberry Pi protection

Good Raspberry Pi protection to keep away anything that could short out the unit. The access holes allow easily pluging in of other accessories. The fan is a great addition. I am pleased with this purchase.

4.0 out of 5 stars Some PROS and CONS for Your Reading Pleasure

Reviewed in the United States ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ on September 26, 2019

Let's get right to business:

PROS

--Raspberry Pi 4 board sturdy within case; no jiggling

--Case feels solid after assembly.

--Connectors are mostly easy to access

--Heatsinks are pretty and they do their job

--Fan is super quiet even operating at the higher speed (5V)

--Fan and heatsink combo kept my raspberry pi 4 at a cool 40 C when I played 1080p 60-fps video from YouTube. In idle state with no extra apps running, the temp stayed at 37 C.

--The whole assembly is attractive with the see-thru parts and black accents

--Very nice instructions that graphically walk you through the assembly. (Move over IKEA!)

--Comes partially assembled. Helps with reassembly if you keep the stack together.

--Power supply (power adapter) hasn't failed on me in normal operation. So far so good.

CONS

--You definitely need the illustrated instructions to assemble as it is not all that intuitive. It's best to keep the stack together as you found it in the box, otherwise you'll need to carefully identify the parts in the instructions.

--Instructions don't tell you much about the fan cable routing. More on that later.

--After you assemble it, there's some likelihood that in the future the nuts will fall off the screws as there are no lockwashers. If you only finger-tighten the nuts the likelihood rises that the nuts will come loose. More on that later.

--Individual parts are delicate. They need to be treated with care.

--I you plan to use the GPIO header, you'll have to choose between using the GPIO or the fan, but not both as the fan uses the GPIO header to draw power.

--The case does not have room to add a Hat on top of the raspberry pi, but you can connect one outside the case by using a GPIO extension.

About the FAN

Ensure label of the fan is facing downward towards the raspberry pi.

Identify where you're going to plug in the fan and route the fan cable so that the cable wraps around the side of the fan. The idea is to take up any slack that might interfere with access to any ribbon connector on the board. To take up the slack, rotate the whole fan before you mount it.

About the Screws

The nuts should be tightened a little more than finger tight but not so much that would crack the plastic. I used a metric hex nut driver and a philips screwdriver.

Put a tiny drop of glue on the end of the screw where it is flush with the nut. Don't get any glue on the plastic or you'll ruin the case. I would use wood glue or a medium-strength thread-locking fluid. The idea is that it will keep the nut from backing off but you can still twist it loose if you need to disassemble the case. Adding a lock washer might not work because there is little to no room for it and it might ruin the plastic.

5.0 out of 5 stars A very nice case that’s easy to assemble, as long as you keep the layers organized

I got this for my pi4, and it’s very useful as it look more like a mini computer rather than an ugly green usb hub that I have to worry about because of the possibility of it shorting on every single piece of metal on my desk. The included power adapter is very useful as it prevents me from looking like an idiot by crawling under my desk every time I want to turn the pic on and off. The fan is also silent and prevents the pi from overheating constantly.

TLDR: a very nice case, and the included fan and power adapter are a nice addition.
